The Jury Case and Carpal Tunnel

by

“I will heighten my life by helping copy copyMy husband was called for jury duty this week and found himself in jury selection for a case involving a very popular restaurant. The complainant was a woman who said she got carpal tunnel syndrome on the job, was treated, and then six months later was fired. My husband was picked as Juror Number Two until they disqualified him since the judge thought he couldn’t be unbiased. This is not surprising as we are both extremely opinionated and as Benjamin Franklin said, “A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.”

It is probably a good thing I wasn’t there. I would have had to restrain myself from pulling up a chair and talking to this young woman; for I, too, once had carpal tunnel syndrome. It was painful, but it taught me a lot. This was long before I found cultured foods, but this was once again my body sending me a warning sign that things were out of balance and the symptoms were sent to get my attention.

carpal tunnel copyCarpal tunnel syndrome is a condition that results in numbness, pain, tingling, weakness, and other problems in your hand because of pressure on the median nerve in your wrist. The median nerve (as well as tendons) runs from your forearm to your hand. When the tendons become inflamed and swollen, they squeeze the nerve, causing pain and numbness. They go through a small space in your wrist called the carpal tunnel. Pressure on the median nerve can cause carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS).

I developed CTS in the late 90’s when we first got internet and I was on the computer all the time. It was painful and I also wasn’t very healthy, but I did go looking for an alternative to surgery and found one. I discovered I was lacking in vitamin B6 and there were many studies on how this can treat CTS. I started taking 100 milligrams of B6 supplements and much to my surprise my carpal tunnel syndrome went away.

260,000 carpal tunnel surgeries yearly

b-vitamin-foods copyApproximately 260,000 carpal tunnel surgeries are performed yearly, but the good news is many doctors are now telling patients to add vitamin B6 to their diets, along with wrist splints and anti-inflammatories. There are some doctors who are divided on this, but some authorities are saying  that around 90 percent of CTS cases can be eliminated by B6 supplementation. B6 worked for me so I am now a believer, but since that day I have learned a lot more that I want to share with you. Inflammation in the body and a lack of B6 can be at the root of CTS.  Supplementing with vitamin B6 can get the job done, but you have to be careful not to take too much. Some studies involving lab animals found that excess B6 can harm the central nervous system. I also discovered that many people have trouble absorbing B vitamins, and having lots of healthy bacteria is crucial in helping you synthesize all of your B vitamins. I had to continue taking supplements for years and then I found cultured foods and one other supplement which I believe is more natural and better for the body without having to worry about taking too many B vitamins. Cultured foods fight inflammation and also contain tons of B vitamins and probiotics that help you absorb more B vitamins from the foods you eat. They create balance in the body and allow things to heal as they reduce inflammation and also flood the body with nutrients and tons of enzymes. All cultured foods reduce inflammation, but not if you eat highly inflammatory foods and create an imbalance in the body. Then the body can’t heal itself. If it is constantly eliminating toxins and trying to counter all the negative effects that processed foods create, it can’t heal.

One of my favorite supplements

I think one of the greatest supplements on the market E3 Livethat contains a ton of B vitamins is  E3live. It’s a blue-green algae, and I can’t tell you how much I love this supplement. It has a healthy amount of B6 and B12 as well as a host of other nutrients. I take it almost every day.  It’s helped me with so many things and I have written another blog about it as well. If you struggle from any kind of B deficiency, then E3live, cultured foods, and eating whole real foods will help you restore balance again.

The body can heal, but it needs your help

This has been my experience and I thought I would share it with you. The body can heal, but it needs your help and input. Don’t you wish our bodies could talk? I think they do talk to us all the time and we have just forgotten how to listen. I hope this will shed some light on this subject for those who suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome. To the lady who is going to court, I pray that she will find a way to use this experience in a way that will make her life better as well as the lives of those around her. What if something as simple as one nutrient could have helped her avoid all of this? My husband said the room was filled with 300 busy people who were called for jury selection and were only paid $6.00 a day to be there. We are all brothers and sisters and when one of us suffers, we all do. What if I hadn’t found this nutrient that helped heal me? Would I be able to be on my computer 24/7 writing books and blogs and answering questions? I certainly couldn’t live the life I have now and I wouldn’t know you. I need you and you need me, it’s how it is all designed.

If there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do no harm

no enemy copyWhen one gets better, it sends out a beacon of light to others. Then many start seeking knowledge – which is what caused one very simple woman named Donna (who never believed she could write a book) to become a best-selling author and enjoy the privilege of watching so many people become well. So who’s helping who here? It’s not just me helping you. You have changed me, too, and you’ve given me the courage to even attempt these things. It can be a scary thing to share your heart and personal stories with so many, but you kept asking for help and I couldn’t tell you no. I wanted you to feel good, too, so I pushed myself to do things I never thought I could. Together we’ve become a force for good. Let’s continue to teach ourselves to be healthy, discover the miracle we are, and spread it to others. This is what my site is all about. Thank you for helping me and sharing part of your life with me. It was a road I never thought I would travel, but without a doubt, it has made all the difference.

I’m trying with all my heart to teach others to believe in their own wellness. It can change – everything.

  1. Hi Donna! Love the info! My question is how did you know you were lacking vitamin B6? Thanks

  2. Hi Donna 🙂
A great read on carpal tunnel – thank you. I am due to have surgery on my right carpal tunnel on 15th April. I am in daily agony with it and am finding everyday tasks quite difficult. I am going to start on B6 today after I have been to our organic shop, do you think this gives me enough time to sort this out and in your opinion would you cancel surgery? Any advise would be greatly appreciated as if I can do away with surgery I will jump at the chance. Many thanx

  4. Donna i love this, one of the very reasons i took the step to start fermenting was discovering my low b12 which made me realise i must have an absorbstion problem, i also suspect thyroid problems. On doing lots of reading, a lot of it yours ( thank you) i joined a lot of dots and am on the road to recovery. I now do the triology and am brewing for friends and family (although not the immediate as they wont touch it and think im doing experiments). I to believe in the connection of us all and get so much joy from helping others who in turn help me. Thank you for your wise learnings and giving ways which are being put forward x

  5. Donna, love the quote, “If there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do no harm”. It is beautiful and speaks to the truth. Is it yours?

  6. I just finished two gallons of cultured cabbage. There was about a quart of liquid left so I drank it all down. OMG the horrible gas I had for 3 days after. What did I do wrong?

I appreciate all you do including your class
