Shipping Policy

We offer free shipping to the lower 48 states for all orders over $20. Alaska, Hawaii, and the US territories do not qualify for free shipping. (sorry!) We will determine the most efficient shipping carrier for your order. We will normally use either the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) or FedEx. All orders are shipped from Kansas City, Missouri. When we print your shipping label, you’ll get an email with a tracking number so you’ll know when to expect it.

Orders that contain live cultures

If you ordered a live culture, such as my Kefir Grains, Kombucha Starter, or Sourdough Culture, we ship only those orders on Mondays (or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday). This is to help ensure that your live culture won’t sit at the post office over the weekend. If you place your order on Monday afternoon and our shipping department has already finished for the day, your order won’t ship until the following Monday.

All other orders

For all other orders (that don’t contain live cultures), we will usually ship your order within 1-2 business days.

Express Shipping

We do not offer the option for expedited shipping. It’s usually too expensive (over $40) plus we can’t always guarantee that will will be able to get your order to post office in time for guaranteed delivery.

Personal Pickups

Because of our extremely busy schedule, we do not offer the option for you to pick up your order directly from us. We simply aren’t set up for that. If you live in the Kansas City area, your order will usually arrive within 1-2 days anyway. We hope you understand.

Items Damaged in Shipping

If you received an item that has been damaged during shipping, please contact us right away. We will file a claim on your behalf. We will need you to send us pictures of the damaged item, as well as pictures of each side of the box that the item was shipped in. Please do not throw away the damaged item unless instructed to do so by us. If you do, we might not be able to help you get the item replaced.
