This is an extract that you make and add to the water kefir to produce a coffee flavor. Pretty crazy delicious! Make sure to use good bottles made for brewing.
Turn off heat, add coffee, and let brew for 10-20 minutes.
Pour your coffee into a strainer lined with a paper filter into a large bowl.
When it's strained, add liquid coffee that was strained back to your saucepan.
Bring to a simmer and add sugar.
Let boil for 5 minutes, stirring to dissolve sugar.
Remove from heat and let cool
Coffee Water Kefir
Add 2-4 tablespoons of the coffee syrup to a 16-ounce bottle.(Make sure you use bottles such as Grolsch or Bormioli thick glass bottles. Bottles bought at craft stores can explode.)
Add 14-15 ounces of Basic Water Kefir to the bottle leaving a small amount of room (about 1 inch) at the top. Seal your bottle.
2nd Fermented Water Kefir only needs to sit 1-3 days or until it becomes bubbly. Check it often by opening it to see if it is bubbly. (Warmer homes take less time)
Once ready, you can drink or refrigerate for storing. (Drink within 1 week for optimal flavor and benefits.)
Note: You can use remaining coffee syrup to make more water kefir or store in the fridge in a jar for up to 3 weeks
