Blueberry Basil Water Kefir

This is the perfect drink for the summertime. Fresh basil and yummy blueberries taste fabulous together! Make sure you use good bottles made for brewing.
Course: Beverages
Servings: 16 ounces

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Crush blueberries with a spoon on a flat surface and tear your basil leaves in half. (This will ensure the most flavor is released while fermenting.)
  • Add blueberry mixture to your 16-ounce bottle.(Make sure you use bottles such as Grolsch or Bormioli thick glass bottles. Bottles bought at craft stores can explode.)
  • Add just under 14 ounces of Basic Water Kefir to the bottle leaving a small amount of room (about 1 inch) at the top. Seal your bottle.
  • 2nd Ferment Water Kefir only needs to sit 1-3 days or until it becomes bubbly. Check it often by opening it to see if it is bubbly. (Warmer homes take less time)
  • When finished, strain out fruit and basil into a glass or another bottle. Unless you don't mind chewing a bit in your drink.
  • Once ready, you can drink or refrigerate for storing. (Drink within 1 week for optimal flavor and benefits.)

Notes
