Rosehip Water Kefir

Rosehips are beloved for there sweet fruity flavor and are loaded with Vitamin C ,vitamin A, calcium and iron. In addition, Rose hips are rich sources of bio flavonoids, pectin, vitamin E, selenium, manganese, and B complex vitamins. Rosehips have been used for healing in medicinal form for years. It has said Rosehips have been widely acclaimed to help rheumatoid arthritis. They also help regulate blood sugar and reduce cholesterol among other healing properties.

Rosehip Syrup

  • Add all SYRUP ingredients to a sauce pan or pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cover. Let simmer for 45 minutes. Let cool.
  • Strain out rosehips. (and save!)

Rosehip Water Kefir

  • Add 2 tablespoons of Rosehip syrup to a 16 oz brew safe bottle.Make sure you use bottles such as Grolsch or Bormioli thick glass bottles. Bottles bought at craft stores can explode.)
  • Add 15 ounces of Basic Water Kefir to the bottle leaving a small amount of room (about 1 inch) at the top. Seal your bottle.
  • 2nd Ferment Water Kefir only needs to sit 1-3 days or until it becomes bubbly. Check it often by opening it to see if it is bubbly. (Warmer homes take less time)
  • Once ready, you can drink or refrigerate for storing. (Drink within 1 week for optimal flavor and benefits.)
  • Note: Store remaining rosehip syrup in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

Notes

You can reuse your rosehips to make a new batch of syrup 1-2 more times.
