Passion Fruit Kombucha

This Kombucha is bursting with flavor. Passion fruit is a little expensive (especially in non tropical areas) but it adds so much flavor to our brews that we splurge now and again. One passion fruit will make four bottles of 2nd fermented kombucha! I like to leave the seeds in while I drink it because I enjoy the crunch of them!
Servings: 16 ounces

Ingredients

  • ½ teaspoon passion fruit seeds/juice (¼ a passion fruit)
  • 15 ounces Plain Kombucha
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar for extra fizz (optional)

Instructions

  • Cut your passion fruit in half and scoop out the pulp/seeds.
  • Add ½ teaspoon of the pulp/juice to a 16 oz bottle. This will be about 1/4 of your passion fruit pulp. (For extra fizzy kombucha add 1/4 tsp of sugar)
  • Fill the rest of your bottle with plain kombucha leaving 1 inch of headspace
  • Allow to ferment 3-5 days. Check you bottles one a day to make sure they don't ferment faster as they can explode.
  • Once finished you can store in the refrigerator and strain before drinking (if desired)

Notes

Make sure you use thick glass bottles made for brewing.
