I found a fun and easy way to grow sprouts. You grow your seed on a hemp bag. The roots of the seeds grab on to the bag and they grow up as if they were in dirt, only there is no dirt. It is super fun and pretty sitting on your counter. I purchased my seeds and bag at Sprout people. I also purchase their seed mixes. They have a mix of different seeds that are full of flavor. I love the garlic and chive flavors for sandwiches. Some of my favorites are French garden, Italian blend, and Russian Mix .
- 1 to 2 tablespoons of your choice of sprouting seeds.
- You thoroughly wet your seeds and hemp bag and place them in a small pan or container that will allow your bag to spread out. Then you can lightly cover the container making sure that the bag stays wet. Then remove the cover when they start to sprout after a day or two.
- Make sure that you keep you bag moist and never let it dry out or get to soggy. Then in about a 5 to 7 days you have beautiful sprouts that you just pull out and enjoy. You can also use this bag to sprout beans. See the video below to see how to sprout beans in a hemp bag.
Here is what the sprout people say about sprouting beans in a hemp bag:
“The Hemp Bag has the greatest Air-Circulation of any Sprouter – if you hang it between Rinses! We don’t even Drain ours – we just hang it above our sink and let it drip. The downside is that Bag sprouters dry out – so you need to Rinse more often. That is all there is – you never have to Drain – you just have to Rinses twice as much!”
This is my favorite way to sprout beans:
