Hi Donna. I am very excited to be new to Kefir and using it in smoothies, cheese, ice cream, veggies, and soon to add soda. My teenage son suffers from bouts of diarrhea and I am hopeful the kefir will make a huge difference for him. He often cannot get on the bus in the morning for school. My family thinks kefir treats taste yummy and it is something easy and healthy to make that saves money too! No more buying soy cheese and soy Ice cream. I was wondering if you had an estimated carbohydrate count on say a cup of kefir soda made with fruit juice? I am curious to know how much sugar is left as carbs after the whey uses it up. Also, how many carbs would be estimated in a cup of kefir made with 2% milk? I am wanting to limit my intake of carbs. Thanks so much for teaching me the valuable ways to use kefir.

    • Kefir is 1 % sugar so about 1 to 2 carbs and the longer it sits the less there is. It eats all the lactose ( milk Sugars) out of the milk and makes it 99% lactose free. Wonderful if you watching carbs.

    Hi Donna
Will definitely try this soda, can you re-ferment tHIS soda like you do with the strawberry when you use the kefir starter packages? Can you do this one with the starter package rather than whey or is there a particular reason for using the whey?
